A brief history of chronographs

From World War II onwards, aviation took on a relevant role in the development of battles and that is when pilot watches had greater development and began to be used as tools to assist navigation.

The best known is the “flieger” type watch, with two variants; Large, easy-to-read dial with just the hour and seconds hand, and the chronograph flieger.

The chronograph flieger was used to measure flight time, a fundamental parameter in any mission. This function was so important to the airccraft crew that they wore the wrist chronograph as a safety system in case the chronograph integrated into the airplane controls failed.
