ABOUT UNITY
Other things about us …
UNITY is a watchmaking firm that was founded in Barcelona in 2010 by Eduardo Peres. A watchmaking enthusiast, his proposition is three-fold; to offer a brand of watches that have their own personality, to move away from mass manufacturing, and to offer a product and watches that are exclusive. It’sa proposal that allows clients to participate – as much as they want and without any limits – in the creation of their watches (materials, finishes, faces, straps, movement, etc.).
In such a globalized world, everything is just a click away and having the best technology or professionals does not in itself make a difference.Nowadays, what makes the difference and distinguishes your company is not what you do, but how you do it and the impression you make on your clients.
“happiness is not something one experiences, but something one remembers”
Oscar Wilde
WE DO NOT USE standard watch cases or solutions to make our watches. Instead, we at UNITY design, develop and manufacture our own watches. The bezel, case and back case are machine made using numerically controlled lathes, and the side lugs or “staples”, extremely complex pieces, are made in several stages, with milling-machines being used in the last of these.
The fact that we don’t depend on others gives us a great deal of flexibility and freedom. We’ve no need to manufacture a minimum number of watches, and we can adapt to whatever our clients request.
“Barcelona made” – in a world as globalized as the one we live in, here at UNITY we have gone back to our beginnings. We believe having a defined designation of origin creates value and generates trust in our clients. At Unity we’re making increasing efforts in our search for local suppliers – we’re not going to look far and wide for things we can find locally… We’re aware this type of thinking may make prices more expensive, but it’s how we think things should be done.
We currently have the following suppliers: watches and finishes – made in-house; black DLC coating – in Switzerland;brown and other PVD coatings – done at Oerlikon’s plant in Montcada i Reixac; crystals – in Carballal; dials – in Danafi and Rali; and straps – from CBS Straps and Jacob Straps.
OUR WATCHES are mostly DISTRIBUTED online via our web platform. We chose this distribution channel for a number of reasons. First, we avoid raising the price of our products unnecessarily with middlemen. Secondly, it allows us to reach out to clients all over the world (we export 85% of our production). And, finally, we don’t want to lose touch with those clients who like to give our brand feedback. Each and every email sent by our customers receives a reply from the company’s founder and CEO.
We have scarcely any intermediary distributors, and those we do have were selected on the premise that they share both our way of doing things and the passion we have for our watches. Sticking to our principles, we’re also clear that this will never be at the cost of raising our prices in order to finance a secondary distributor’s margins. Instead, it’s about sharing ours by taking our price on the website as a reference
Our brand name, UNITY, takes its inspiration from our watches’ principal attribute –the unique and exclusive character of each piece. This property also serves as the basis for our leitmotiv; in a world where everything is copied and mass produced, exclusiveness lies in a return to the original way of things and in made-to-measure products (if you have a few minutes to spare, please read about what lies at the heart of our philosophy here).
At UNITY we set ourselves apart by making very limited series, in addition to unique and personal watches tailor-made for our clients. We at UNITY understand exclusiveness, not in terms of what is the most expensive, but as the luxury of something made to measure, as something that is unique and personal. What do you think?
